Relatively inexpensive (16 pounds for a 4 bed room) for being right on the Royal Mile. Close to all the sights and LOTS of Pubs. It's not a party hostel but it's easy to find someone to grab a pint with.

The kitchen's got a couple cooktops and plenty of fridge space. The folks at the desk are very helpful.

Plenty of hot water. The showers are co-ed (if that bothers anybody) but the toilets are separate.

The one drawback is that it's on the Royal Mile, so it's not quiet - especially in the morning when all the deliveries are being made. If you take a pair of earplugs it's not bad.

Sounds like a nice place. A good hostel always starts with a friendly front desk in my opinion.
