Hey fellow travellers! I just wanted to warn any of you planning on using Lucky Youth Hostel in Paris that you are making a big mistake.

The website information is not valid (ie: they don't actually accept Visa or place people in the Quartier Latin) and the manager is a bitch. She is always late, disorganized, rude and not at all willing to help make your stay more enjoyable. Be prepared to wait for her to arrive at meetings, have "full working accomedations" that have broken showers and stoves, and hand over large sums of CASH ONLY to pay for your room. TRUST ME, I've stayed there. Find somewhere else for cheaper with better facilities.

They are hooked up with Hostelworld.com and hostels.com which means that they can be booked throught the Travelpunk.com hostels reservation system. Hostel owners have to meet the strict requirements of hostelworld in order to stay on board with their booking engine.

The only way of reserving your room is through a credit card, whether on the booking engine or through their own website. Are you sure they don´t take credit cards? Could it be that their system was down during the time that you stayed there?
Has anyone else had a similar experience with this hostel?

Update on Luck Youth. I Stayed there in 2005 and loved it. The lady was great and the place we stayed was fine. She owns different apartments that she rents out so its not a typical hostel. Each villa/apartment has 10 to 12 beds and bunks. I stayed there for a week.

I'd stayed there again if i went back.
