Yeah that does sound like a very good deal. Find out what the "accomadations" are and we can tell you a little better if you want to do it that way. That are, as there are everywhere, some hotels in Vegas that you would not enjoy staying in.

Hotels I wouldn't bother with in Vegas:

Stratosphere (not so great, and also a pretty bad neighborhood)
Circus Circus (poor location, too many kids and low-rent folks)
Excalibur (way too many kids playing in the elevators, so it takes forever)
Alexis Park "Suites" (KEEP AWAY)

There are a bunch of others that no one should stay at, but usually they don't come up in the package deals.

Hotels that'd make me jump on that deal:

Hard Rock Hotel (off-strip, but reallly cool)
Rio (off-strip, but the rooms kick ass)
Bellagio, Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Wynn (duh)

All the others on the strip are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, and at that price would be a pretty good deal.. rates have skyrocketed in Vegas since the popularity of its namesake TV show and all the poker tournaments on TV

That'd be the Las Vegas Hilton... and yeah, Quark's Bar is pretty cool!

Golden Nugget in downtown is also nice. Stayed there last August. Very mature, classy atmosphere. Not 10 million kids running around. Carson Sreet cafe in the hotel has some great food and you can stuff yourself silly at the seafood buffet.

I love the "old" Fremont Street strip - so much cheaper and less glitzy than the "new" Strip... of course, most of the stuff first-timers want to see is over in the new area, but no one should discount Fremont Street - it's old vegas and needs to be seen!

+1, Omi. The Fremont Experience is pretty damned cool.

Advise that you rent a car and hit up Hoover Dam, too. I rented a wrangler and drove, top down in January to the dam, then went offroading on Federal land and likely am a wanted man now lol :D

Check out MGM Grand, since they are so fucking huge they have some killer deals often.

I agree about the freemont street experience. Also, the hotels there such as the 4 Queens, California etc. have pretty good rates to make up for the fact that they're pretty old hotels, think I paid around $55/night at the 4 Queens when I want last time. If not, don't forget a travelodge or a Days inn is always an option, Just DO NOT book at the Days Inn Near the airport, It's right under the flight line.

Been to both NYC and Vegas and Vegas will be alot more fun around december. NYC has tons of holiday events but Vegas is always hoppin for a party. i was there as a teenager and we had a blast. Theres tons of places to go out and the whole atmosphere is wild! i would say that you will spend less in vegas then you would if you were to go to manhattan for the break. (all depends on how much you gamble) let me know where you end up going!

Sounds like a great deal for 6 nights. Even at an average hotel, you'll pay about $75- $100 on the strip.

I lived in Vegas for 6-7 months and have been going there several times a years for the past 10 yrs.

Never been to NYC, but it's on the agenda...

I would have to swing my vote to Vegas just because it will be a little warmer. That and I have a love for all things gambling. I stayed in a place calle the Embassy Suites - Tropicana. It was off the strip, in a slightly shadier part of town but it was alright. I would prefer to stay on the strip next time though. But the price sounds decent.

As far as once you get there, things a bit more expensive then they usually are. I only took 1 cab and it was expensive as hell I about had to choke that driver as he played dumb with getting to the destination. I gave explicit directions on how to get to the destination and he tried to mumble jumble his way around.

Otherwise, buffets are your best bet for eating one big meal a day and getting all you can eat I reckon.

Sounds like a great trip.

I went to vegas about 3 weeks ago... and it was awesome. Even though I didnt gamble much it was still crazy expensive. I did manage to catch a U2 concert... which was pretty cool. The hotels are amazing just to walk through and people watch. I didnt see too many kids tho... it could be because of the time I went, but also I know that vegas is heavily advertising to get it to be more of an adult city. It is crazy expensive to get a cab... i would recommend getting a hotel on the strip and walking everywhere. It helps work off all that buffet food! Also, we stayed in a huge shit hole... the Westward Ho... yea it was nasty, I only paid about 50 a night which was nice and we didnt spend too much time in the room there is just so much to do in Vegas! Definitely hit up the Palms for the buffet. It was amazing and I heard its the second best in town. The Aladdin was the best (but it was like 20 bucks). The Palm's was only 8!!! Also, it looked like they had some pretty cool shows goin on at the big hotels, I would try to score some tickets. Have an awesome time! Vegas is awesome!

We stayed at Excalibur and it was alot of fun, although i would recommend the MGM grand, the Luxor or the Palms. Apparently the palms is the ultimate hots pot for a younger crowd!
