TP you went to vegas right. Where do you recommend to party there. What club is going off right now?

travelpunk 09-08-2003 09:51 AM

Let's see...It´s been a while since I´ve been to any night clubs there, but the ones that I went to in the past were going off. Studio 54, RA, The Rum Jungle, The Beach (24hr club off the strip), were all good. I think Studio 54 was the best one, but it also could've been that night.
Now, I hear that ALL of the action is at the Palms Casino, so that´s what I would check out. It´s off the strip and across from the Rio Hotel and Casino. I went there with my girlfriend to catch a movie in their theaters and couldn´t believe how packed it was with young adults. They´ve got a couple of clubs on the very top(Ghostbar I´ve heard from people here, is the bomb!) as well as an outdoor pool club called SKIN. I will tell you that there was a long ass line for something on the main casino floor, and I can only assume that it was for the entrance to the Ghostbar so people had to wait in line, pass security, then ride up the elevator to the top.
Here a link to their clubs.Palms Night Clubs

Also, the Madalay Bay and Hard Rock Casinos(Babies) are happening with the young adult scene. Especially their pools. Mandalay Bay has a sweet pool! Here´s a tip from a guy that I used to work with in LA. He stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and while his girlfriend was off to business meetings throughout the day, he spent his time hanging out at the Hard Rock pool. He worked for a tiny production company(intern or something) and just thought to bring a couple of scripts to pass the time reading. He said that the pool waitress came up to him to take his order and noticed that he had a couple of scripts. He told her that they were from the production company that he worked at and they were deciding on which one to produce. Next thing he knew a bunch of chicks came up to him throughout the day trying to mack down with him. I guess everyone thought that he was a producer and that they could all get "noticed." Bottomline is that, another way of picking up hot betty's at the pools in Vegas, bring a script or two as a prop. Download one off the internet(like raiders of the lost ark) and change the cover page with a made up title. Just another trick...it´s harmless, right? :D ;)

Also, I just heard that the Venus pool at the Caesars palace has topless European sunbathing. Info here-Caesars Palace

Heres a summary of some clubs in Vegas.

Hope it helps B)

llemus7 09-08-2003 02:54 PM

uh okay well vancouvers nighlife/clubs looks completely stupid against these club complexes that vegas has. outdoor swimming pools, all these vip things..etc..??? wtf. That's waaaaay to complicated for me. I don't think vegas nightlife is for me. When i go out i like wearing my jeans, cute shirt and I like my pitcher of beer. I don't want to have to pay friggin $20 (us dollars!) to get into a fuckin club! Ummmmm yeah right. If that's the case i'll stay home with my case of beer and turn on the friggin radio. I think ppl take going out waaaaay to seriously. Bouncers think they are friggin god. When in reality they are only fat ugly men with no power whatsoever. If you call making ppl wait in line power then you have a problem. But seriously I just can't understand that someone would pay that much to get into a club, just so they can pay another 10 (us dollars!) to get a martini made by some bartender who thinks he's hot as shit and then listen to some dj going "you waz up party people" all night long...The coyote ugly bar looks fun though. NO dress code, NO attitude. thats what going out should be.

llemus7 09-11-2003 07:53 AM

damn Dio that sounds like a lot of anger towards the club seen. But I hear you, to expensive to get in, plus expensive drinks in the club. ect.....

Even though I agree on all the bad things you mention. I still like going to those clubs, and have a good time.

Paulo 09-13-2003 06:21 PM

I LOVE VEGAS!

Probably because I don't live there. That's what a lot of locals tell me anyways.

There are lots of ways to get into hot clubs. Greasing the bouncer is the obvious way. The good ol' green chip handshake. However, sometimes if you gamble at the tables, you can get the waitress or pit boss to get you a pass or even VIP (whooptie dooo). I got a real good run at the craps table last time I went (Luxor of all places), so I was playing forever and getting rated in the process. I got two VIP club passes and dinner buffet tickets. Hell ya! I sold the other one to a drunken frat boy, flew past all the poor saps waiting in line and proceeded to dance like nobody was watching.

I ended up going to Rain the next night. There were like 1,000 people lined up there. I started talking to this player type dude in line (who was laying the mack on some plastic coated girlies) and he got all ballsy, went up to one of the bouncers and slipped em' some green. He was trying to impress us or something because he included me and aformentioned girls in the party too. Thanks alot buddy. First time that ever happened. Maybe he though I would be his 'Wingman' or some shit. We get waived in, go up the elevator and well, besides the view out the window, it wasn't all that spectacular. I dunno, is it still the hottest thing in Vegas? Just a bunch of kids squeaking around in rayon shirts and plastic skirts with their damn underwear hanging out. (I suppose a lot of guys go for that) I last went in Feb. so it has been awhile. I like Ra tons better. Studio 54 is okay, and really huge. Ummm, the Monte Carlo Brew Pub is really cool. They have dancing but also tons of good beer and food. The Beach was a lot of fun, they had good drink specials and a very laid back atmosphere. The House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay is great too. Rumjungle is a bit overrated and expensive. There are sooooo many clubs there that it would take me hours to type about them all.

The Voodoo lounge on top of the Rio is awesome. Really good panorama of Vegas. I think I can see my house from there and I live on the coast of California! Drinks are $$$ though. Although they are high quality. I got triple rasberry kamikaze and it lasted half the night. My strategy (often used by many I'm sure) for drinks, however, is this: get to preferred level of intoxication in the casinos. It won't cost hardly anything. Sit at a nickel slot machine right next to the tables if possible. Pretend to play said slot machine. Ask for double rum n' cokes (my fav) or your preferred drink. When the lady returns, get your nose out of her cleavage long enough to place a dollar on her tray and say "thank you". For a savings of 5 or six bucks from club prices. Helpful Hint: the more the tip, the quicker she comes back to ask if you want more.
Of course, the law of diminishing returns certainly applies.

Well, that's my Vegas review. Oh yeah go to Ellis Island and get their 2.99 steak and eggs breakfast. Yum.

I certainly am not a fountain of info being that I only go there 2 or 3 times a year, but I like to share my experiences anyways.

p.s. I don't like Baby's
p.s.s. Diorama, that last post of yours was great.
p.s.s.s. ALL YOU PARTAY PEOPLE UP IN HERE!!! RAISE THE ROOF YO!!! :P
p.s.s.s.s. Bouncers are GOD, didn't you know that?? A god that takes bribes

Paulo ya couldnt have said it better, thats Nevada to a T. ;) I use the ole slot machine drink method just about everyday, hell here it even works on the penny slots. My friends and I got plastered on about 7 bucks a piece last weekend. B)

Alright, so I am going to Vegas after the Fourth of July, looking to have a good time with my friends. Any good choices?

My buddy wants to see what Vegas has to offer as far as strip clubs go, so any suggestions out there?

What about the terrible news of Binions being shut down.

I'm staying at the MGM Grand.

katdawg 01-17-2004 01:18 PM

Vegas is tawdry and trashy. Gotta love it.

Recommendations:

CLUBS:

*Rain* at Palms. If you're a good-looking girl with a bunch of girls, no worries, don't let the mile-long line stop ya. Just go to the front, smile at the bouncer and kindly ask if you and your girlfriends can get in. Be nice! If you're a guy, good luck buddy. If you're a guy, the only way safe bet is to get there super early, like 8 p.m. and be there before the line gets insane. Be prepared to shell out $20 a head.

*The Light* at the Bellagio.

BARS/LOUNGES/PUBS:
*Voodoo*
*Ghost Bar*

The Brewery/Pub at Monte Carlo can be hit-or-miss. Best part is it's free, really good drinks/drink specials, and can be hella fun on a Saturday night provided there's a DJ spinning danceable music and not some lame cover band.

And unless you like guys in shiny boy-band shirts galore, do not go to Studio 54. Also, Baby's at Hard Rock is straight-up ghetto. It's like a frickin sauna in there, musty and you're bumping into some sweaty asses, gross!!

STRIP CLUBS
*Olympic Gardens* You get a lot of um, bang for your buck, so my guy friends tell me.
*Sapphire, the largest gentleman's club. 20,000 square feet. Cool, HOWEVER, since it's so huge, there's only like two stages and you may wind up staring at a speck of a girl.
No matter what the cab guy tells you (he gets commission or some shit for driving people to certain clubs) DO NOT DO NOT go to Crazy Horse 2, they have the butt-ugliest girls in the world!!!! I was drunk and still found them all ugly!!!

MY FUN PARTY TIP IF YOU'RE IN A GROUP: Go to Hard Rock cafe, almost always there is this black caravan shuttle car that is really a party limo shuttle. Driver's name is Ly and for $150 (group of guys can split this) you get shuttled around to all the hot spots, with booze and all leather interior -- we did this for my bday and the driver got us in to all these clubs without having to wait in line.

AFTER HOURS:

*Dre's* at Barbary Coast
*Seven* on the strip

Hehehehe! Everyone's entitled to party like a rockstar in Vegas... last time I was there, my entire bunch of friends wound up clearing $$$$ playing craps and I won $$$ at the roulette tables, so we were all on this winning high-- tossed back way too many drinks and hit the strip clubs. Two of the girls in our group had never been before so they were kinda squeamish when I bought them lapdances. Hilarious. After the last shot, I was pissed off my arse and the next thing I remember is waking up in a bath tub full of cold water. Ahhhh ... yup. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Except for all the funny stories you just HAVE to retell to friends. :lol1:

Sijuki 01-19-2004 02:59 PM

Well I hope my experience is just as exciting as your Kat :stoked:

Ah, if only we all had teletransport powers or somethin like it. B)
