hey if you are going to be in NH then you need to hike Mt Washington. I went there last spring with my lift group and it was awesome. just a suggetion it would take the average hiker like 2-3 hours i think and its a nice little trail. well traveled so marked really well.

Unfortunately, me & SV didn't have time to check it out when I was up there, but Olympic National Park does look enticing. The Hoh Rain Forest is the only rainforest in the US and kind of a "Land of the Lost" Bigfoot country!

Or, if you wanna try the SW - Zion National Park in Utah is beautiful and the smell of all the desert plants after a rain is amazing! There's also a lot of other very interesting rock formations in that general area, as well.

I know you guys were talking about Isle Royale NP. I have never noticed a trail that goes the entire length of the great lakes, but we do have plenty of things around them.

the trails in the Upper Peninsula along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (which includes Pictured Rocks, Au Sable Pt. Grand Sable Dunes, Miners Falls and Munising Falls).

I believe Mackinac Island has some trails also. Tahquamenon Falls is supposed to be beautiful too. Then Sleeping Bear Dunes might have some decent trails also. If not it will at least be a nice hike to the top of the dunes.

I'm also a huge fan of Mount Saint Helens... there are several trails, and (between eruptions) you can get a permit and actually climb a trail to the summit, too. The area is spectacular, if a bit barren, but the whole experience is pretty humbling, when you see the devastation that a single eruption wrought!

Beyond that, I've only begun to tap the possibilities in Washington State. I've climbed Mount Ellinor, which is a really nice day hike, and for camping, the whole area is really just wonderful.

Have fun!

Thanks dude! Yea, we''ll be in New Hamshire this summer for a week... thanks for the link. Do you live in that area?
Yes - I live in south/central NH (not to be confused with south central LA.....but there are some serious warring factions between various cow pasture gangs) but anyway...the White Mtns are about an hour and a half from my house. There is some great hiking up there. I am only a casual hiker and so cannot offer a lot of direct experiences...I do a lot more fishing then hiking.....but it is quite beautiful up there and there are a lot of different hikes and peaks to climb. Unfortunately, the old man of the mountain fell down a few years ago...so you cannot see that. If you have any questions about NH, feel free to let me know and if I am around when you are passing through we can grab a beer or two and have a mini - Tpunk meet up.

Yea, we are doing Mt. Washington, that is part of the purpose of that trip!

Voyd, Hoh Rain Forest looks awesome! We are looking at the Northwest, so I will have to add that to the list!

Anthon, I'll be happy to escort you & SD around the Hoh rainforest if you make it out this way!! It's a few hours drive & ferry ride from Seattle, but oh so worth it. If you're an avid National Geographic reader you've probably seen the "Hall of Mosses" featured in it several times. It was a bummer that Voyd & I couldn't make it out there.

I'll take you up on that for sure!!! We are going with her family to New Hampshire in June, then we will be road tripping it starting sometime in July until who knows when. We are looking at Montana, Washington, Oregon and Northern Cali as are first big area to hit up and do some serious hiking. So we'll plan to do Hoh rainforest with you!

Awesome! Sounds like you are hard core dude! Not sure where we will end up this summer, but we will certainly look you up and do some hiking if we get in your area.
