Trek America - West Coast

Hey everyone

Well ive narrowed down my next trip to 2 options, both completely different so ive put 2 posts out there.

In short, i want 6-8 weeks, Feb/March 08, somewhere with lots to do.

My first option is to do a Trek America trip, something like the Western Sun trip
  1. Santa Barbara
  2. San Francisco (H)
  3. San Francisco (H)
  4. Yosemite Nat'l Park (HP)
  5. Yosemite Nat'l Park (HP)
  6. San Joaquin Valley (HP)
  7. Death Valley Nat'l Park
  8. Death Valley Nat'l Park
  9. Las Vegas (HP)
  10. Las Vegas (HP)
  11. Zion National Park (HP)
  12. Monument Valley
  13. Grand Canyon NP (H)
  14. Grand Canyon NP (H)
  15. Sonoran Desert
  16. Tucson
  17. Joshua Tree Nat'l Park
  18. San Diego
  19. San Diego
  20. Disneyland/Los Angeles
Does anyone have any experience of these trips ?

Also, it doesnt sound a lot of time to spend in each place so do you know if these are flexible and i can stay extra nights etc or is it a set itinerary of 2 nights? as i guess to make 6-8 weeks i would add another trip on at the end possibly a coast to coast ?

If anyone has any advice or experience about trek america it would be great to hear from you ! Cheers !!

I dont have any experience with a road trip like this, hopefully I will after summer '10 but good luck! I know Dr. Gonzo's planning a cross America trip, perhaps he'll have more advice?

What do you mean by "is it a set itinerary of 2 nights?" why would there ever be a set amount fo time you have to spend in a place?

Hi Laura.....all i meant by the set itinerary was that the trip ive mentioned is an organised one with the company "trek America" and i wondered if anyone knew if they were flexible i.e. if i wanted an extra night somewhere can i stop and catch the next passing bus, or are you restricted to stick to that set itinerary.

oooooooh that's what trek america is....lol I thought that's just what you were calling your trek haha

It's probably pretty set, because it's likely a bus that will take you to all there places in one go & either you're on the bus or you're not. If that's not for you though, point to point bus tickets arent that expensive....
