Washington DC on a whim
Yeah so I had planned on having a quiet weekend this past weekend, as I have been running around like a mad woman since I've been back, every weekend. I was planning a Guitar Hero and "Project Runway" marathon and not leaving the couch.
That was until my college roommate Barbie (who lives in Manhattan) tells me she has taken the Chinatown bus from NYC to DC to stay with our other old roommate, Alli. We were all originally supposed to meet up in Ohio this weekend but their flights got cancelled because of the bad weather.
So what do I do? Hop on I-95 Saturday morning like a madwoman. I leave at 8am and I am there exactly at noon. DC is a freaking 4 hour drive!!! I'm not sure if any of you know about my love affair with DC. It's worse than my love affair with Las Vegas.
Anyway I was up there Saturday and left Sunday night. Had ourselves a good little time. We went out to some oyster bar up at Dupont Circle which was amazing. Then went to this bar called Lucky Bar and it was pretty lame because there were a million people. Sunday we lazed around and I met an old friend from when we were at Ft. Huachuca together, she works at the Pentagon so I went down there and we lunched and I peaced out.
It was SO DAMN WINDY that the power was out partially where we got on the metro by Alli's place (at Ballston-MU on the orange line) and when we got in the metro we saw a guy dressed like Captain America and he had a huge skeleton with him so we got our picture with him cos that was awesome. I'll post it when Alli puts it on facebook.
The drive is so freaking easy and enjoyable I am coming up next weekend too, on my own. I know it's St. Paddy's day weekend so I'm sure it will be crazy, but really I am going to play DC tourist. I haven't done that in several years, so my goal is to hit up the tidal basin (never been in all the times I've been to DC), Holocaust museum (never been cos every time we've gone the wait was ridiculous), and the Smithsonian, and then just walking around like a moron.
Yay! I am so excited to find out how close I am! So, Jess and anyone else in the area who wants to meet up for coffee, dinner, drinks, whatev, I am down! :D

Hellooooo!!!! I'm PMing you my cellie. I am free ALL DAY Saturday, chica. And I am up for whatever. And I have a big place, in case you need to crash!

I use this to look up everything. In case you wanted to know what's up!
And Lucky Bar = vomit bar. At least on Fridays because people go for the happy hour and stay for the night! Gross!! It's good though because it's DC's one "specifically soccer" bar. There are lots of Ethiopian and African places that show games, but not so centrally.

Haha won't be able to get drinks, but lunch would be cool, if I'm not working.

Hell yeah, Ms. Gulia! (Of course it takes Nicole visiting to get you interested in a meetup, even though I've been here ALL ALONG! )

shame its the weekends, I spent many Monday-Wednesdays in the DC suburbs (Northern Virginia/Chantilly area).
Oh, and the Holocaust Museum is a must. and I prefer the craft beers at the Capitol City Brewing.

Jessicaaa! You have obviously NOT seen my multiple attempts to revive the B-more meet-up part deux! :P I FINALLY know how to get to the metro, load my smartcard thing and ride the metro (pathetic, I know), so we'll have to do something soonish.
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, Nic. I ended up having a scholarship due today, and work right after I had it sent to the post, so I had no time. Next time, though!

I was! I swear. But the Baltimore meetup thread was closed or something! I'm here...all the time! But I do not have a car. So I can MARC it up to B'More sometime or you can haul your behind down to the Metro area, and we can eat some good food.
And Nicole and I will DEFINITELY be giving an update on our Saturday of mayhem and shenanigans very soon. Let's just say I shot way more big horns than she could ever dream of...

Ummm yes I just got back online (and back to NC LOL) but all I can say is I shot more turkeys AND caribou so the 12 point rams mean nothing!!! HAHAHA
I'll put up some pics soon and a thorough recap but the cable/internet guy was just here and I have to hide my ugly cable.
all I can say is more DC meetups will ensue and anyone brave enough to take us on is invited but the initiation will be at Sully's bar up on U-street with the Big Buck Hunter Pro (will explain later) and we'll b the judge of whether you can hang or not. tee hee.
