so i'm going to alaska for the holidays.... i know im crazy to go there in winter but i'm going to be there with my best friend who LIVES there. we're going out and hike and stuff during the day and also fit in a 3 year old's birthday party.... i think i should go to south beach or somewhere warm afterwards but i'm just coming back to chicago for a month before i head back to england for a while....
what is the best things to pack when you know it's going to be REALLY REALLY freaking cold?

REALLY REALLY warm socks are a biggie. Waterproof shoes/boots big enough to fit your warm socks. Thermal underwear - top and bottom, a good sweater, great gloves (you can get liners, too for additional warmth) and a hat is essential. And sunglasses. If it's sunny the glare is terrific. But avoid metal frames - frozen metal on skin...not good. And don't wear earrings. Brrr.
