Hey!

So I won these 5 hotel nights and a 3 days cruise in the carabeans for 4 persons, and my friend and her sister are coming with me in may (still one person to find!) on a road trip...We'll start with that (Orlando, Daytona...). Then, since we are there, we want to stay a bit, let's say for a total of 3 weeks, and drive the East coast. We were thinking about New Orleans, Virginia...

What do you say guys? Is the weather nice in may down there? Any advice? Something we should not miss? We need to start preparing soon!!!

Thanks!

Haa...we wanted to do the West Coast but it's a bit far by car and time is more limited than we originally thought. Besides, I've already done the West Coast!

It all depends on what you want to do see and that stuff....

New Orleans = Party, crazy, Bourbon Street, show me your breasts get some beads type of stuff......Same thing with Panama City Beach, FL....

Virginia = beautiful countryside, historic places, civil war battle sites, first American colony....blah blah blah

Other places that might be interesting for you:

Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Water rafting, Kayaking, or rock climbing in BEAUTIFUL north carolina, camping at Graton Beach FL (number 8 most beautiful beach in North America), hitting up the music scene in either Nashville or Memphis Tennessee, New York City and all its museums, galleries, and attractions, Myrtle Beach South Carolina can be a fun party place, Atlanta Georgia has a pretty crazy club scene (its a pretty ugly city though), Pittsburg Pennsylvania is supposed to be a pretty nice city, Boston is a really cool place too (lots of music, history, young people).......obviously theres a lot more...this is just stuff off the top of my head...

Weather is usually pretty nice and sunny in May...shouldnt be much rain...tends to be more rainy in April....

Jeez, I just gotta say it, "Well, Mocsy, if you're still looking for someone -- a 4th person -- ahem. I'm available!"

Seriously, by May, most of the South should be pretty warm. Florida is definitely your party state, with Daytona and Ft. Lauderdale being biggies...and of course, Miami. Charleston, South Carolina, is a neat city. North Carolina's coast has all kinds of islands and beaches tucked away. Virginia (as Adam said) has tons of history. But if you get tired of partying, Colonial Williamsburg is supposed to be neat. DC's great for museums and monuments. Boston is a great town for history AND partying. And Maine has the cool seacoast and waves crashing and stuff like that.

Where in the Carib are you headed to? St. Thomas?

Yeah and there is supposed to be some hella whitewater rafting in Virginia. I have a friend that works down there in the summer. She's says its pretty good. May is a little late to hit all the college spring break parties so it will be somewhat cleared out by then I am sure. There is also the Smoky Mountains in E. Tennessee, West Carolinas. Those are supposed to be nice.

Congrats on the trip Moc! I'm very excited for you! Wow, you guys covered a whole lot already. Hmmm... I'm trying to think what else I can suggest... if you'll be in Miami, then try to drive through the Florida Keys all the way to Key West and back - it's a beautiful drive. KW is the most touristy, the other smaller keys are more pristine and prettier. But you'll do the most partying in KW, especially if you enjoy drag shows - they are very entertaining!

If you hit PA, then you may want to swing through the Poconos, it's panoramic of PA, and you can do outdoors sports too. Make a stop in Philadelphia, it's a very historic place, plus you can meet up w/ me for a beer!

If you hit VA, then definitely do the scenic Shenandoah valley drive (did someone already mention this?). VA beach - touristy, but lots of partying.

Yeah, NY is the place to be for everything! Party on!!!

The North Carolina outer banks are beautiful! That's where the first plane was flown - off the sand dunes!

Vermont is also beautiful!

Stop by Rhode Island - Newport - that's where Jackie and Kennedy were married. It's beautiful, plus there are some great mansions to visit, if this interests you.

I'm sure I'll think of more, will let ya know.

Wow Guys! Thanks!!! That's pretty good info...Since it's my bd on the 8th and my friend's bd on the 28th of May, we intend to party a bit (and relaxe a lot!) for turning 25! We've already been to Boston together and also New-York, but we have a friend that lives there so we might pay her a little visit...

Thumbs up

New Orleans rocks! A very unique and fascinating town with a lot of Americana. I don't know about the rest of the EC, cuz I've not really been there myself... You do have Disneyworld in FL, but that would take up a huge chunk of your time.

Yes, I've heard New Orleans is great, any time of year. One of these days I will make it down there too. So much to see, so little time.

Then I'll make sure to stop by New Orleans! And I have day passes to Disneyworld when I'm in Orlando (that was part of what I won)...So I guess I'll do that too.

Disneyworld is nice when its free. Otherwise if I remember correctly it is expensive as hell. All sorts of nice touristy things to do, and get to punch Goofy in the head when he starts humping your leg.

I'm living in New Orleans at the moment. It's more than beads and boobies!

It's alcohol, too.

But seriously, it's an amazing city, so much to do, and lots of partying to be had. I'd schedule a decent amount of time here, it's quite easy to lose days down in the French Quarter. It'll be quite warm by May, but most places have AC, so it's not too bad. The worst part is walking across the sweltering street from one air-conditioned bar to the next!

Outside of the quarter, make sure you see the Garden Disctrict (beautiful homes), uptown by the universities is beautiful, eat some crawfish by the lake, drive out and see some plantations, and go on a swamp tour. Hmm. What else?

PM me if you need more NO info.

And enjoy your trip, I'm jealous!
