I was wondering...for those of you that have been on extended euro-vacations, what your budget was. I am olanning a 6-8 week trip in the summer and would like some info on other people's budgets so that I can guage how much money I should aim to have. My flight there, as well as roughly 2 weeks of my accomodation, is already paid for...any help would be great...thanks!

Hey! I did a 2 month Euro-trip, and had about a week's worth of free accommadation. Overall, I spent about $6000 CDN including flight, Eurail, and a British bus pass. I usually spent between 10-20 euros for hostels, tried to stay under 10 euros a day for food (although the Italian pizza was just so damn good so I splurged a bit from time to time!) What else, seeing as it was "once in a lifetime" (well hopefully not) opportunity, I saw quite a few of the attractions which could get pricey, like the Colloseum, musicals in London (gotta love them), etc. Also, keep in mind with Eurail, you often have to pay for reservations, which is usually under 5 euros, but overnight trains with a couchette are often 20 euros and up. Then of course there's the alcohol budget to keep in mind... Anyway, hope this helps a bit!

I stayed there for around 6 weeks and spent about $6000 canadian. This included my flight from Toronto to London, all my rail 'n bus passes, and accomodations. Although some of my hostels ran up to 35 euros a night.

To be honest I found this a perfect amount. I scrimped by in places I could so when I did want to spend more I totally could. My sister wanted to go on a sailing trip in Scotland and the cost was something I totally had enough to cover for the both of us.

Spend alittle time on your research and it really pays off. I am a bit obsessive when it comes to planning, but I worked out a rough budget and was well within my means.
