What is it like travelling alone in Europe - I have been alone in Asia and Australia and always hooked up with people?

Are hostels in Europe as friendly? Thanks

I haven't been to Australia or Asia, but generally I found the locals to be very friendly in Europe, especially if you make an effort to speak the language. Other travelers and backpackers you meet along the way are gonna be traveling alone too, so they are looking to meet someone also. Take advantage of this and start a conversation or a game of cards - it shouldn't be a problem to find some friendly like-minded people.

I found I met more people when I was travelling solo in Europe than did people travelling with a friend or two....one person in a hostel will soon make plenty of friends! You'll have a blast.

I didn't encounter any problems finding travelling buddies, someone to go siteseeing or have a drink with (in Asia or Europe)

In general I think it's all backpackers nature to be social and want to meet people regardless of which countries they are travelling in.
