Let's see...a clear explanation.
Give me your intelligence, you so-called backpacking swine!
Here are the facts:

1. 20 years-old, traveling to Europe for the first time before he transfers to college in California for the Fall 2005 semester/quarter.
2. Span in Europe will last exactly six weeks.
3. Eurorail pass is a Flexi 15-day.

Here are the questions:

1. Not including airfare and Eurorail, will $2250 be enough for 6 weeks?
2. Does traveling alone for 6 weeks have any drawbacks?
3. For comparative purposes, how much have you guys spent?
4. Lastly, I will go in a big fucking circle around Europe i.e. everywhere. Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

OK, I want all the pretentious and pompous backpackers out there to give me some truth.
-M.
ps- or maybe not ALL the pretentious and pompous backpackers. Wait...yeah, how about anybody with a piece, lay it down.

as far as $....6 weeks x 7 days = 42 total days

$2250 / 42 = $53.50 per day

it can be done, but is a little tight...i think most would rocommend a little more if possible. im going on about $75.00 a day and plan on it being tight, so depending on where you spend most of your time, it could get tough. and hey, best of luck on your travels!!! 6 weeks, i'm jealous!!!

ok...ok...thanks for the reply.
six weeks is wishful thinking. BUT, it is possible?
i'm talking london, paris, san sebastian, pamplona, madrid, barcelona, cannes (?), milan, venice, florence, rome, athens, geneva, prague, zurich, amsterdam, munich, brussels, then back to london...to fly back home.

the wonder, the excitement, the sex? let us hope...let us hope.

london, paris, zurich, amsterdam = mucho expensive

if you plan on camping you could pull it off, but if you are staying in hostels you will be left with $25 a day in those cities, and that is taking a VERY optimisic view. don't forget the US dollar doesn't fair so well int the EU and your $53.50 tuens into about 40.5 euros...so if you manage to find accomidation for 20 euros you are left with 20 to eat, and to pay for buses, drinks, entry fees and the like.

Yeh i just had another point i personaly would not set your plan in stone as far as pre booking hostels and stuff, you may end up not getting everwhere or you will but only get 2 nites everywhere and spend along time on the train, but just depends on what your after. plus if your on a tight budget you might want to try

i have never used it but there are a shit load of people on it

first of all you have 20 connections between cities to make and you have a 15 day flexipass do yo have a plan for that?

Also I will be in europe for 6 weeks and am bringing 3200 usd around 75usd a day.

I'm no expert but you may also be trying to spread yourself to thin don't try and go everywhere your first trip take your time you can always go back next year and/or the year after. if you can't aford to go 6 weeks only go 5 that would bring oyu up to around 65usd a day. just a thought.

but good luck and when are you going i leave in august.

Anything above 75 USD a day in Europe (on average) and you'll be fine.

Honest........thats F-in ambitious if you can fit Athens into that then serious kudos dude your looking at a serious city hop here, I mean 6 weeks though you gotta go hard......I would take athens out thats another trip another day. I dont think your flex pass is gonna hold out 15 days........over 6 weeks, and then your cash if your talking about buyin ladies drinks which you dont have to do to get laid cause fellow traveler babes are more understanding (to all you travel babes ) my advise would be if your traveling defenetly try to overnight on the train to save hostel prices, and well eat sparingly hit up the grociers and the local markets, then you have more money floating around for the good stuff.
