Unless you want your kids to have a constant contact high, I wouldn't book a hostel in Amsterdam... at least from my experience. And what I remember is very hazy

Here's a listing of B&Bs in the Mokum. Prices range wildly...

I stayed in the Owl Hotel, small and cheap but decent...but that was years ago. Don't know if it's still around, but it's a name, anyway. The hostel I stayed in was not in any way good for kids. (And we travel with four wee ones, so we know the general requirements!)

Check out the Jordaan christian city youth hostel, or something like that. I stayed there this summer. It is in the Jordaan district, outside the crazieness of central A-dam. Also it is a christian hostel (i'm not religious, don't worry they don't cram it on you) so it tends to be a more laid back crowd. I would highly recommend it if you have kids.
