Okay, so next year I plan on travelling through Europe for a couple of months. One of the countries that I feel I definitely HAVE to make the trip for is Turkey just because it has SOOOO much history and amazing things to experience. I am a little nervous to go through there though, especially being a young female within a country that I've heard to be quite sexist.
I plan on doing as lonely planet suggested & wearing a head scarf, long-sleeved shirts, shady glasses & a long skirt, but I was wondering if any of you guys had any tips or stories of fab travels through there that would perhaps ease my worries

Personaly, just from what I know and experience, you might wanna be a litte cautious and try too travel with someone else at all times in Turkey, my uncle is Turkish born and raised, and he tells me Turkey is very male dominated also turkish men are very agressive however my mom and sister go there all the time and never have had an issue, If you dont lay out any bait you shoulden have a problem
will

I can only really speak of Istanbul, since that's where I was for just about all of my time in Turkey, but you have absolutely nothing to worry about there. As a 20-something girl on my own, I had no hassles whatsoever. But that's a big city, maybe you'd need to be more careful in smaller towns and stuff.
But definately go there - I've been to about 20 different countries, and the Turkish so far have been THE most friendly and welcoming people I've met, I loved every minute of it and will be going back for sure.

My aunt used to go to Turkey alone all the time... she never had any problems. Of course, she looks kind of like a Doberman Pinscher...

My pops had 8 brothers and sisters. Some were bound to get some bad genes, ya know Nah, I love my auntie. But she's never pretended to be a looker. Nor a charmer, really... but she was always a lot of fun!

I was just in Turkey for the past 2 weeks. It was great. I did meet at least one or two girls traveling alone. I didnt hear about any serious problems. I dont have time to elaborate now but maybe later I could help you if you have any questions.
QUICK HELP for you.........if you go to Olympos there is a good chance you will get sick. I met at least 10 people who got sick there (including myself)

Andy .......email me if you have questions.

Waiting is the worst part. But when it gets here, you're so shocked that it takes you like two days to release you're in a totally other country.

My local diner is run by Turks (don't know what their called correctly, Turkians, something). The are a very male ran business and they do show their dominance over the female employees. My friend worked there for a few monthes and she was offered like 10 trips to Turkey with various co workers. He boss wanted her to come with him and his wife to visit family. She declined and quit later on when one of the bus boys (a relative of the owners) started stalking her. She is a very flirty girl though so I'm sure if she acted reserved they would of kept away or at least not bothered her.

I'm sure you will be fine. Just act like a local. Quiet, reserved and show a lot of respect to men.
