Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me or offer some kind of guide. After spending FAR too much time in a small town and dead end job i've taken the plunge and booked the trip i've been saying I was going on for the last five years. Im off traveling for a year. I'm going to Oz, Nz, Fiji and La. I plan to work in bars and such but wonder how much i should start off with ;)

Well its hard to say how much you will need for a year, but to start of on a working visa, I think you need to have 5000$ in the bank that you must prove to the Aus. goverment that you have.

So I would say to start off 5000$ but you will for sure have to work while your there with that amount, the 5000$ should last you 3 or four months.

When I got my working holiday visa, they never asked to see any statements of how much money I had. I've heard that they don't really ask when you land either. As long as you've got a return ticket. I'm planing to take at 'least' £2500 with me (british pounds). I am going to work here and there when I need to.

I have never been backpacking before and am a lil scared of being a single female landing in a strange contry. First night may be a lil intimidating. Any advice?

I'm going on my own for a year in may to oz. A lot of people say it doesn't matter if your going solo, in fact they say it's sometimes much better! Whereabouts you going in oz?

[font=Arial][i]Haven't got a clue. Where the wind takes me i supose. Going to Fiji first should be in Oz around Sept/Oct time. Landing in sydney i think but nothing is set in stone. You doing the whole backpacking, youth hostal experience? :mellow:
