So I'm in Canada, just finished university, and eagerly awaiting next Tuesday when I head to Frankfurt. Now the problem is that I'll be in Frankfurt, and Oktoberfest is in Munich. It was considerably cheaper to fly into Frankfurt than Munich hence why I went there. Now the problem is getting from point A to point B.
Whats the best way? I figured since both were major centers with 1/2 million+ and a million+ ppl respectively express discount travel would be no problem, but I simply can't seem to find it. Trains seems to be about $160 CAD for a one way trip, which seems excessive for a 350km trip considering my flight to europe wont be costing much more, or train prices in Canada. A 4 day non-consecutive rail pass for Germany is only $180, and it seems assinine that a one way ticket would cost so much. Am I missing something here? How can 350km of travel cost about the same as potentially 6000km? Or is that what the train companies do? They make one way travel such a horrendously bad deal you have no choice but to buy a pass.
I looked at air, no discount airlines fly between the two during off season it seems. I looked at busses, Deutsche Touring offers the route reasonably priced, but it takes over 12 hours to do 350 km? The schedule is litterally 10 minutes travel, half hour waiting, another 10 minutes, another big wait.
I just can't fathom how two cities as big and hubbish as these two are so poorly connected.

What train site did you check?
If you go directly on Bahn.de, the one-way trip is 75€ - roughly CAD$105. Not great, but less than whatever you'd already been quoted
