Spirit Air is running a special right now to introduce their service to many points in the Caribbean. Destinations include Jamaica, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic.
On limited dates, each way is only $9 plus the requisite taxes & fees.

A sample itinerary posted on the message board I got this deal from suggested Chicago O'Hare - Montego Bay, Jamaica for a week (using the limited dates they are offering). With taxes and such included, roundtrip ends up being about $115.
Hope this is of use to someone! If it was actually only $9 and I didn't have to pay the taxes, I'd do a 2-3 day quick jaunt to one of the destinations, seeing as how I've never been to any of them.

So.... tempting.... oh my god.... a nice mini vacation in December - found a hostel for $15 a night.. a whole tropical vacation for $200????

It's probably because the eastern half of the country is closer to the Caribbean, Europe, and South America. Us left coasters do get better deals on trips to Asia, Australia, and the South Pacific, though...
