Was wondering if anyone knows how I can get to San Francisco and Ecuador from Sydney, Australia cheaply (and no, I can't walk/swim/flap my wings from Sydney to Quito)??? And also hoping to go to Vancouver, HK and N coming back.

I'm thinking of leaving Dec 27 2006, and returning to Australia 9 February 2007.

Right now I'm looking at a RTW 26,000 miles ticket, but its so expensive. I don't even mind not going to Vancouver. HK and NZ, but definitely have to go to San Francisco and Quit.

I went the other way this past winter - San Francisco to Sydney via Air New Zealand, for a pretty good price. Check Air NZ's web specials. At least, for getting to the US. As far as Ecuador goes, I'm sure there are many US and/or Latin American carriers that'll do it for a reasonable price. I have a friend who flies to Quito regularly on American Airlines.

You may want to try putting your itinerary into a web site that does multi-city quotes, like Orbitz.com to get a ballpark figure and what airlines fly your desired routes.
