Hi dudes, one of my mates has just won an auction for an old coach, which we are planning on travelling round europe in. Foolhardy? perhaps, but it was extremely cheap and so we figure we can sell it again if it turns out to be rubbish. What i need to know is if any tpunks out there have ever done the same thing, and if they can give us any advice about how the f*%k you park a giant coach, any problems we're bound to face, etc etc. Really what i want to know is if we will get any grief just parking it anywhere..........

If Anyone think its a really idea, or if anyone thinks it will be central in Cliff Richards summer lovin bus, let me know!

We've just driven a station wagon from Germany to Italy, and that was fun enough to park, and get down all the little lanes. I wouldn't want to be a bus driver, but the buses were everywhere. I guess your best bet for parking would be to find a campground with access to public transit, just outside the towns/cities that you want to visit - park there and let someone else do the driving in the cities. Hope you're going to paint it all psychadelic (sp) and everything.

Depending on the size of the coach you might need a coach license to actually drive it...

Sounds like a bloody awesome idea though, one of my main gripes of travelling is having to stick to public transport routes and times, with your own coach you can really explore.

sounds like a cool idea, and would give u a lot of freedom to do what you want. but you might want to check out gas prices, as they are typically much higher in europe. so you might not save as much money as you would think if its costing you a fortune to fill up each time. all in all though, it would be fun to have like a sweet old bus that you could make a european party machine and just roll into cities and party the night away. also if you could find places to park them you could even set up the bus so you could sleep in it and avoid the costs of hostels. although that might run old after a while.

Sad to say that the scheme has finally folded. No coach because the british licencing authority wont reclassify it from HGV to minibus. Maybe next year we will get a campervan sorted who knows. or maybe this year i will run into a coach load of hippies, join their commune, and quite simply disappear. Lets hope so. Cheers for the advice anyway dudes!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a wicked summer, and if you're in europe, i will be about, hitch hiking and using the trains......damn.
