So since being back in Canada I have bought 2 things from Wallmart (I had forgotten how much I hated it) and they have both gone to crap. Darn Wallmart!

people dislike Wallmart for various reasons.
Some dislike them because of how they treat their employees and not allowing them to unionize, some dislike them because of their using labour from the third world and exploiting them.
While those are valid, I dislike them mostly because their products suck. I bought 3 things and 2 of them broke. They are waaaaay to big which means you get lost in their stores and no one really knows their products and I just basically don't like them.

horrible customer service and in general they have horrible products. every time i go in there, things just look a mess and everyone looks miserable. all that ON TOP of the fact that it's run by a bunch of billionaire assholey okay-with-exploiting-other-people money hoarders makes me prefer target every time, all the time, no matter how much more expensive it is.

OK I have to fess up. I shop at the super wal-mart in poulsbo a bit. Mostly because it's the only store to get a lot of the things I need, like a box fan, where else can you buy a box fan? Basic needs and whatnot. It may be the devil but their prices are hard to beat. It's a hard system to break out of once you start shopping there.

I usually hit up Walmart when I visit my folks. I'm not sure what's up with all the hoopla on these guys, but I've never had a bad experience there with the employees or the products.
I guess I'm just in the dark

Mostly it's business practices, and for me the issue is its complete obviousness of religious preferences, mostly with regards to how it treats its employees. For pretty much like ever, their health care plan has not covered birth control for women but yet DOES cover erectile dysfunction medication. I don't know if that has changed in the last year or so but I really doubt it.
I won't lie, I've been in Walmart before... but there isn't one anywhere near me and thank goodness for that.

Like most people, I am sometimes forced to go to Wallmart but I try to avoid it. I prefer Canadian Tire.

Exactly, plus its about time small stores go out of business. I used to be a small business owner and most of them are idiots. They charge rediculous prices refuse to compete and evolve and just becuase compitetion comes to town the complain.
I am sick and tired of people gauging me for my money. Walmart does a good job of making my money go along way.
