If you could afford a 3 month Eurailpasses pass is there any reason you would not get one?

I'm in the midst of planning my trip to Europe and trying to decide what would be the best way to get around. I plan on going to at least 10 countries.

I like the idea of this pass as it means I can forget about forking out any extra money for trains for 3 months, and seems very convenient. Oh and I get motion sick, so taking a bus is off my list. Such a pain in the ass but there is nothing I can do about it.

Also if I can afford 1st class is it safer/worth it/more comfortable for somebody travelling alone?

Thanks,
-TC-

If you can afford the 3 month pass, I don't see why not getting it if you are going for that long. You still will have to pay some supplements such as reservations, night trains, ect.

I don't think that there is a need to buy a 1st class pass. If you are over 26, then you have to buy one though. Most 2nd class seats are perfectly fine and you are more likely to meet other travellers there than you would in 1st class.

When I was just away in Spt, I found that the first class seats were like little compartments with no door and about 4 seats, not a good way to meet other "budget" trav'las

and I would say, go for the rail pass...no line ups to wait for tickets ( I miss 2 trains because of lines) its a nice peice of security knowing you have the ticket already and its conveinent.

TC, I'm in the same situation as you. I'm trying to decide between the 15 day in 3 months or the all-out 3 month pass.

I'm leaning towards the 3 months unlimited so I don't have to worry about counting days and can just go where I want, when I want.

Let us know what you end up going for. I'll be making the decision in the next few weeks.
