Do all flights have taxes like this?
2 adults = $ 916.00
Taxes and Fees = $ 602.40
Service Fee = $ 10.00
Total Price = $ 1528.40 (764.20 Average per person)
Trying to purchase plane tickets - was curious if taxes are always in this range. Flying from DFW to Edinburgh. Leave Mon, Return Thursday.
Thanks!
Dave

Err, no. Usually the taxes & fees add up to around ~$80 or so.
Perhaps there's some currency conversion factored in there?

thats sounds just about right to me, maybe a little excessive, but it also depends on the airline and the airports youre flying in to. different airports have different charges to land planes there, for example, toronto is becomingly increasingly expensive to land at.
i just got a flight for a base price of about $250-300 USD, then with taxes with was $380... taxes will kill ya, but what can you do right?
good luck

DFW is a problem airport as well because of the monopoly. forgot the name of that airline again. anyways, does that have anything to do with it? what airline quoted you that price with all those taxes?

Every airline has taxes like this on similiar routes.. They generally have a stop in Chicago or Florida somewhere, and I am finding all of them on websites like Travelocity, Orbitz, etc.

Worst airline ever, if you ask me. their fault i had miss my flight, to stay an extra nite in Miami, and got a nasty case of food poisoning...
American Airlines.
I'd advise finding a way to a non-American dominated airport and then commuters to JFK/Newark/Dulles/Philly. Likely could become VERY cheap.

The thing that gets you the worst are the country's departure taxes. And that, forgive me for stepping up on my soapbox, you can blame our sitting president for. He felt that'd be a good way to raise some money and not seem like you're taxing the people: Hike up the departure taxes. So, naturally, other countries reciprocate...
Thanks, GW, that's just what you want to do: Discourage folks from going abroad, promoting understanding, tolerance, raising prospects for peace -- nah, Americans don't need to travel abroad...

Those taxes do seem excessive to me but I've only really looked at flights to Europe. Where are you going? I've noticed that certain countries have higher tax rates, too. People talk about flying to Amsterdam and Zurich, but the tax to both of those places will kill you (up to $300 round-trip to Amsterdam). If you're going to Europe, I'd fly to Dublin. Since Ireland is the "English Speaking Euro Country" they've made their taxes on international flights very low.

Yeah, I was going to ask your dates because I was able to find flights for under $700 on Orbitz today. Glad to hear you got your ticket for an acceptable price.
