Hi all!
I'm preparing to leave for SE Asia in afew weeks, and am looking at ways to cut costs. Is being a courier viable, and how do I go about finding info? I plan to only take onboard luggage anyway, so may as well courier if its an option.
And these standby flights, what happens with them? Do I just rock up to the airport with my pack and passport on the day, or do I have to get in touch with someone beforehand and arrange it?
Sorry if I sound a little clueless, I've just got all the time in the world, but funds are limited, so dont mind the initial hassle if I can save a few $. Oh, and I'm looking at flying from Sydney to Bangkok one-way (please give opinions on this too, as I'm unsure) around the start of March, pretty flexable. Any info greatly appreciated, and if I'm just "dreamin'"; tell me so I can stop wasting my time! If I have to, I'll just pay full fare, but I thought I may as well look into other options first, no harm. I'm just having trouble finding info... anyone more cluey than me?

Bienvenidos a Travelpunk!

Standby travel is kinda tough these days. So is courier work. But a few things:

Courier stuff now often requires YOU paying for the ability. I've come across a few sites that advocate "air-hopping" or couriering. http://www.courier.org/ seems to have a ton of info.

Otherwise, if you are Semper Gumby as my Marine friends say (always flexible) it could be a great way to travel on the cheap.

Hey thanks for that!
There do seem to be a few good deals out there, but with all the hassle involved I think I'm just going to take the easy option and buy a RTW ticket! Was worth looking into though; one Aust company that regularly offers cheap courier tickets to London. Maybe another day!
Thanks again!
