First of all, wanted to say thanks to everyone answering my newbie questions, as much as one half of me wants to just 'jump' into doing this backpacking thing, my rational half insists on making some sort of plans, so here goes:
We don't think we'll have enough money to buy a 3 month eurailpass as originaly planned; we want to see as many countries as we can so here's the question: Is it possible to Hop trains in europe? you know, just jump on a train and go until you get somewhere or until you get kicked off? If yes, then are there any pointers on how to do it, and if not, what else can we do to get around besides hitchhiking? |
Well I have no advice on hopping trains, but have you looked at buses? In eastern europe I used them and they were cheap and rather reliable. Crowded at times, but eh. I couldn't complain.

Have no idea how much trouble you'd get in if you got caught - you may receive a fine. Check out these sites for ways to save money:
Global Freeloaders Self explanatory. Hospitality Club Help Exchange Work exchange site Bug Europe - has information on hitchiking and ride sharing throughout Europe. |
Sweet, didn't even think about the bus system, and thank you for the links, will provide for some good reading while i screw off at my job ( ahhh, nothing like knowing the exact date you get to tell your boss to shove it :P )
