Paris to London

Hey T-Punkers!

Need your help again. I'm leaving in 5 days and I just realized that I did not book my last bit of transport for Paris to London (20th Sept). I really don't want to fly because of the taxes that go pretty high when London comes into the picture.

I was thinking of the eurolines service. But the site is in French (www.eurolines.fr) and something's wrong with Google's translation (ie it won't work). Anyone got a better idea? Other than eurolines, is there a good (and cheap. we like all things cheap ) way to travel between the two cities?

My dad (who does speak a bit of French) managed to translate some of the information on the website. Basically, (for some weird, warped and annoying reason), I can only book for coaches on or after 23 Sept!

I checked out easyjet and there's a morning flight (eugh. morning AGAIN. 40EUR after taxes though) that'll depart CDG at 840am. Which means I have to leave the hostel (Hostel Square Caulaincourt) really early. I hear Paris' metro system can get a little confusing so that won't be so fun early in the morning. And as a lone female traveller (first time), I don't know how great the idea is. Apparently there's this PariShuttle that'll pick me up from my hostel and drop me to CDG for 17 EUR. Is that worth it?

From London Luton, how do I get to central london (islington)? There's a bus that costs 4 pds. If I take the tube, will it be cheaper?

Dammit. Factoring in all the bloody extra costs, I'm just so annoyed at myself for not booking this a week back when I was booking everything else!

Getting to CDG from Square Caulaincourt:

Go to the LAMARCK CAULAINCAURT metro station.

Take the #12 (Green Line) in the direction of PORTE DE LA CHAPELLE.

Go two stops and get off at MARCADET POISSONNIERS. Don't get out of the station.

At that station, switch to the #4 (magenta) line in the direction of PORT D'ORLEANS.

At the third stop, GARE DU NORD, get off and make your way to the platform for RER B.

Take the RER B in the direction of AEROPORT CH. DE GAULLE and get off at the airport.

At the airport, find out which terminal EasyJet leaves from and, if necessary, take the shuttle to that terminal.


Getting from Luton airport to London proper:

The tube doesn't serve Luton airport. You'd have to get on a free Thameslink shuttle to the Thameslink rail station at Luton Airport Parkway. From there, you'd take the train to Kings Cross station, at which point you'd hop on the tube to get to wherever in London you're going.

Since you're taking EasyJet, you'll probably find it easiest to take EasyBus for £2 (advanced booking) or £7 (at the bus) into Central London.

Thank you SO MUCH omisan! I knew abt the Easybus Luton and it's 4pds instead of 2pds. No idea why.

But really, the instructions on how to get from my hostel to CDG really helped.

The metro starts running around 5:00am, I believe, so you won't have any problems getting from the Square Caulaincourt to Gare du Nord. They're actually fairly close to each other too. And EasyJet operates out of Terminal 3 (the crappy one, natch) at CDG. The RER train stops right there and it's about less than 50 yards away.
