Does anyone know how easy it would be to fly standby from Heathrow back to San Francisco? Ive missed flights twice coming home from London and both times it was reletively easy to simply jump on the next flight. Im thinking it would be tons easisr and cheaper to simply show up at Heathrow and inquire about standby at the desk. The British Air website says they dont allow standby, but I cant imagine they would turn someone away who wanted to pay for a seat that was availible.

Anyone have any info on the viability of doing this?

It's almost guaranteed that it won't be cheaper, even if they did allow it. You'd probably have to pay last minute full fare prices.
