Hi everyone.

My first trip is almost completly planned out but I'm not sure about my train schedule.

This is it right now:

Rome -> Florence
Florencce -> Venice
Venice - > Budapest (overnight?)
Budapest -> Vienna (overnight?)
Vienna -> Prauge

Or Should it be

Rome -> Florence
Florencce -> Venice
Venice - > Vienna (overnight?)
Vienna -> Budapest (overnight?)
Budapest -> Prauge

(with a few extra short stops along the way probably [pisa, verona etc.])

Im having a hard time finding information about the lengths of the trips and which way is easier to do.

I have a 15day eurorail pass as well as a Prauge excursion pass.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Vienna - Buda is only about 3 hours, while from Buda to Prague is 8. You back track a little through Slovakia between these three cities, so you might consider stopping off in Bratislava for a bit (2 1/2 hours from Buda, about 5 from Prague.) There are several per day. I've found the german train info the most comprehensive, it has schedules for trains that go nowhere near Germany. I don't know the exact link, I just google for european train schedules and click on the one for DieBahn. Looks like between all these cities, there are several departures daily, so you should have no difficulty getting where you want to go. Sounds like a great trip (we visited Slovakia, Hungary, Austria and Czech last summer - beautiful).

If you did Venice - Buda, it looks long enough for an overnight trip, though I don't know which route you'd take to get there. It almost sounds like the Orient Express, actually. You could go via Ljubljana. Venice - Ljubl. 6 hours, Ljub - Buda 9 hours, this is probably an overnight train. I love my tatty, dog-eared Let's Go.

Have fun!

Yeah, that rick steees map is awsome, I used it on my trip. Anyone who intends on using the trains in Europe should have a copy of that.
