I also like Mobissimo, Economy Travel, and the websites of the airlines themselves. I've had great luck booking directly with British Air, for example. That doesn't always work-- for instance, the same ticket on SAS at Economy Travel was listed at the SAS website for almost $500 more. There's no rhyme or reason to it, dude. Just keep looking at all of them all the time, and make sure you dump your cache of cookies when you re-visit.

Because the site remembers that you were there and just gives you the same ticket price as the last time you were there. Sometimes that might be an advantage, but have you ever noticed that the exact same ticket on the exact same flight will change price drastically even a few times a day?

For flights to Japan, keep an eye on United. They have a lot of flights to Japan and peridiocally have sales. I posted a few weeks back on a sale they had where you could fly R/T from the west coast or Chicago to Japan for under $500 (one flight was $250). Granted, those prices are rare, but they do run some specials now and then.

I also like to check directly with the airline. Sometimes you can find a better price.

Travelzoo.com is a great place. They just have deals listed from various places and you can select region.

If you're a student, studentuniverse.com has been having some great prices lately.

We booked our ticket to Ireland through www.sidestep.com - they list a whole bunch of different options and airlines, etc.

Those are my favs. Other ones are the standard - orbitz, travelocity, hotwire, priceline, etc.

I second that. I subscribe to their weekly e-mail of their top 20 deals. They have some great ones. I recommend subscribing so you get auto notifcation when really good deals pop up.
