I'm traveling to Australia next spring to study abroad. I am looking to leave about 2 weeks earlier and travel to New Zealand and the Fiji Islands. I have had a hard time finding a way to plan a flight with stopovers. My University uses a company that would cost a little under $2000 US for round trip airfare to Oz with 2 stopovers. I'm beginning to think this is the best and cheapest route to take but I was wondering if anybody has had luck anywhere else?
I was also wondering if somebody could explain how exactly stopovers work? Do I just plan how long I will be in each destination and get my tickets according to my itinerary? For example, would I just order the plane tickets and tell them I want to stopover in NZ on the way over for a week, then fly to Fiji for 3 days, then fly to Oz finally? OR is there a limit on the time you can stay in each stopover? Sorry I am a complete newb to this, I have never traveled by myself before. Thanks! |
hey jeff! WELCOME TO THE BORDS!
     Im sure you can do better! I would never pay over 1400.00 usd for SFO to SYD even with two stopovers. I just saw a fare the other day for 1250.00 with a stop in fiji one direction and Auckland in the other. What cities did you want to stop in? |
Thanks for the welcome, this board rocks. I'm looking to stop in Fiji and Auckland, LOL but both stops I would like to be on the way there so I can leave a little early and travel before I settle down in OZ for school.
