Hitch hiking from Ontario-California
I have no idea about American highly traveled highways and am looking for help planning a hitch hike from Toronto to San Diego. Any suggested routes would be welcomed. I checked out google maps already and if their route is the best you could reply with just that as well.

when do you want to leave? I have friends driving down to vancouver on may 10th from guelph, but I think they'd prob expect you to at least pay gas money....

Try digihitch.com and hitchwiki.com. I'm not a fan of HH in the US. My experience was memorable, but too many creepy and pervy people. I did it in the south though, the west might be diff.

I'm thinking of leaving in November 2011 so it's still a long way off.

i suggest using public transportation. Its still cheap and more reliable

or you can try out www.megabus.com ... they have really cheap bus fares for $1.00 and will atleast get you part way there.
 |
its fine, on the coast is pretty popular to hitch hike. we have picked up many people and have done some there. i have also found that smaller roads on the westcoast is a good chance of getting picked up, but thats not always guaranteed for the fastest route. just dont walk on the highways or whatever (though i think its legal only in oregon)

why there is not edit button i am not sure.
also we had a good luck with nevada and utah being picked up. but its going to be cold during those times. so good luck |
