We took an Erin Express or something like that. Its just a bus. Got a ticket in the terminal, told the driver which hostel we were at and he told us when to hop off once we were in the city. Real cheap, quick, and simple.

As far as getting back that early you might need a cab (i'm thinking you should be there around 4am). Or cancel your last night of hostel accomodation and head right to the airport at 2am after partying!

Bus 16A is your best choice moneywise as long as its running when you need it (starts around 6.30 AM). Its just 2 euro. It stops in the city center on O'Connell Street. This takes about 40 minutes.

Otherwise you need to take Airlink, which begins a bit earlier and costs 6 euro. Takes about 20 or 30 minutes. You can get this from and it drops you at the central bus station.

Next option is AirCoach which stops on O'Connell St. 7 euro and it runs for 24 hours.

Enjoy!

When are you arriving? It's snowing in Dublin and most of northern Europe now. It's not such a big deal everywhere else but most the Dubs decided it was to dangerous to go to work (the snow was gone by noon) I'd expect this to last as long as it's snowing.

I sickened, we're getting no snow out here in the west of Ireland. I want to stay at home too.

If you are young/solo/looking to get drunk I suggest trying the backpackers pub crawl one night. It usually meets out in front of Trinity College. Yeah, its pretty touristy to be led around like that but its also usually a bit of fun and can serve as a good introduction to the city's nightlife on your first day there.

I recently stayed at the Bunkhouse. Great included Irish breakfast in the morning, free wifi, clean rooms and good bathrooms, full kitchen facilities.

The 41 bus starts earlier, at 5 AM, from Lower Abbey Street. There is a bus stop on Upper Gardiner St not a far walk from the Bunkhouse (where I stayed). From that stop, it's 1,80e to the airport. It will actually get you to the airport 10 minutes earlier than the first Airlink bus. However, if your flight is at 6AM exactly, that is still too late. You'd have to get to the airport the night before, or pay to take the AirCoach for 7,00e.
The good thing about taking the Airlink FROM Dublin Airport to the city centre if your flight arrives early in the morning is you are actually purchasing a Day Rambler that will then allow you unlimited travel on Dublin Bus busses for the rest of the day.
