Default prices of greek ferries

So do greek ferry prices work like plane ticket prices? If I get to Piraeus and ask them to put me on the next ferry to Santorini, will it be the approx. 30 euros im being quoted online, or will it be way higher?

I'm not sure what would happen in your situation. I just bought ferry tickets from Bari, Italy to Dubrovnik, Croatia through Viamare (http://www.viamare.com) and everything worked well. I know they sell greek ferry tix as well but when i checked their site I didnt see any lines between Piraeus and Santorini. In fact i couldn't find anyone going to Santorini. weird. but anyways, I emailed back and forth a few times with a sales agent who helped me out a lot. I just know they reco'd that I buy the ticket in advance because I needed a specific day and sometimes they sell out. Hope this helps and you find your boat to Santorini.

A good site is www.openseas.gr, but you have to know the name of the port.

I was about to purchase tickets online beforehand, but I talked to the owner of a hostel is Ios, and he told me to wait until I got there, because schedules change and shit like that... so that's what I'm gonna do.

You should know that thats about a 8-9 hour ferry ride. I chose to just fly, and it cost me less than 100 euro. To me that was well worth the time.... A 45 minute flight or 8-9 hours on a ferry, plus you have to hope for good weather or you are delayed even longer. Good luck. I will be in Santorini starting the 15th after a week in Amsterdam. If you are going to be there the week of June 15-21 let me know and we can have a Greece meet up!!!

im really really low on money so the 70 euro difference of a ferry vs a flight really really hurts, im supposed to be looking for a job on santorini, i heard that they are looking for female english speakers, we ll see how it goes, i dont think we will be able to have a meetup because if i cant find a job i have to fly out of athens on june 16, but if i do find a job for sure we can meetup
