I'm planning to take a train everywhere i go in Europe, and i was wondering what size of backpack to get (i was thinking 60 liters). But do not want to have to leave my site ie. in the luggage area.

You´ll be fine with a backpack tht size.

There are luggage racks running all along the train cars above the seats. It´s best to place it there as your neighbors can keep an eye on it for you.

If you store it on the racks by each train car entry way, you run the risk of somebody snatching it when you are not watching.
