Hey all! Let me see if I get this: Flying through EU countries (I'll be going from Paris to Rome on Ryanair) one can take hand luggage (56cm x 45cm x 25cm) which includes liquids. However one must put all liquids (e.g. lotions, deodorant) into a transparent re-sealable bag.

This is what (I think it) says on the Ryanair website:

Am I correct? Thanks, David

That's correct.

Welcome to the new American hegemony.

The genius is that the US isn't even really enforcing it! I did it wrong (used a really large ziplock bag instead of a small one) and I got an "A for effort" and then got waved on because I'm cute. I even *offered* to throw some stuff out.

We get these crazy ideas and don't really mean them, and then the rest of the world follows but doesn't realize we were just brainstorming, not really enacting policy.
