I'll be hitting Venice, Florence and Rome. I'd like to find cheap passage (either air or sea) from Venice or Rome to Alexandria, Egypt to visit my mom. Cairo as a last resort. Any suggestions?

I can't say I've ever heard of anyone wanting to go between these places before.
Hopefully someone will come around who has more of an idea than I do! Welcome to the forum, btw. |
Thanks a lot! I'm glad to be here. I actually found another thread where someone was attempting to do something similar. (Egypt from Italy/Greece). They gave me some great ideas. |
I'm working on an Egypt trip myself. Travelocity has airfare. I also flew out of Venice (to Paris). Not cheap. Venice is not a major airport believe it or not. Sort of like Long Beach airport in LA. You'll have fun in Venice with your GF (I did). Suck it up and fork out the 120 euro for the good gonola ride otherwise Venice will end up being the city of abstinance...

I was orginally starting my trip in Paris and Ending in Rome. I'm going to reverse that order and end in Paris. It seems there are much cheaper direct flights to Cairo from Paris than anywhere in Italy. Most affordable flights in Italy seem to require a stop in Athens. I'll be traveling alone so unless I meet a cutie in Venice I'll be on a solo gondola ride. :naughty:

Yes, you're definitely right about the fact that it's cheaper to fly between Paris and Egypt. That is what I did when I went to Egypt. Sorry; should've mentioned that!
