Do they have cheap flights or anything? Or do people travel mostly by train? Like, say you were staying in Beijing and wanted to head around to some other countries. How would prices be? What about time (say Beijin to Thailand)? What about flights to Japan from China? :wizard:

for your travels in thailand and malaysia anyway there are:

www.airasia.com
www.nokair.com

Curioso, when are you going to be in China, Jamiepeaski?

There's a train from Beijing to Hanoi if you're interested in that, I think it runs twice a week and takes around two days. Not sure about prices. I'm looking into travelling from Shanghai to Vietnam/Cambodia this Christmas so I'm kinda asking the same question. :)

I also use AirAsia myself for flights in SEA...cheap, no-frills airline, so bring your own food on board unless you want to pay jacked up prices for a sandwich. :)

Coming from Malaysia, I'd recommend the long-distance busses within the country. They're very affordable, frequent and there are tons of operators. For internal travel in other countries, there's always fun stuff like Tuk Tuks in Thailand, and jeepneys in the Phillipines.

Huh? What? Who's going to China? :blink2: That's merely speculation. Geez, can't a girl ask a question!?

But if anyone were to go (it's just being considered) it would happen mid July.

Thanks for the information though! Keep it coming. :)

Hehe, sorry...I just got hyped when I saw China mentioned coz I'm heading there. :P

I guess I'm easily excited. Muahaha.

Getting around Japan is expensive pretty much any way you try it. For flying, the cheapest hubs we found were in Korea and Thailand.

I understand Freespiritz. :) I was being sarcastic mostly anyhow. :) We'll just see how stuff plays out and then I'll let ya know. Anyhow, mostly just curious.

So, what about flying from China-Japan? Is that pretty expensive as well? Most travel would originate from there (China).

I was in japan this past summer and used JR rail pass...which is only available pre landing in japan and for non japanese citizens...When i was there and told people how cheap mine was, they about shit their pants. Mine was lik unlimited rail activity 400 bux for 2 weeks...its normally like 100 bux one way from like osaka to tokyo or something crazy like that...i dunno...

If you have any more questions about travel within japan...you can ask me but i dont have that much info...sorry
