Default Spain Wrap-up and Pics!

Here's a little blog entry that I wrote to wrap up the trip, although it is by no means as extensive as I would like it to be...maybe I'll get around to that someday. Ha. Um, hopefully hostel reviews will be up sometime soon. Although at the rate trips keep coming at me I'm finding it hard to keep up...

-----

I spent the last 12 days in Spain for spring break, flitting through the cities of Valencia, Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Madrid and Barcelona on a journey affectionately termed "The Spanish Plan of Insanity", abbreviated to "Span Plan Insan", and which spurred many lame puns involving us being fans and the need to consume flan. And so on.

And thus the three of us wandered through cities saturated with the heady smell of orange blossoms, basked in the sunshine on green lawns the likes of which had never been seen in Florence before, and delved into the delicious squishiness of avocados on 60-cent loaves of bread. We cringed in terror at the Fallas fireworks that blotted out the sun into a blood-red glare through the stifling smoke, and we gazed at the Fallas princesses with their Princess Leia-like hair and glittering dresses. We pondered the mysteries of the wrapped floats and statues, and cleared out of Valencia before the festivities proper began. There was time spent in smoky sheds, as we watched with mesmerized eyes the intense and fiery movements of Flamenco, tapped our feet to their syncopated rhythms and listened to the guitars strum dance and twang. We wandered through places I'd only ever studied about in classes - the Great Mosque of Cordoba and the Alhambra (as overly verbose and emo Washington Irving, our dear audio guide would put it, has such beauty ever been beholden by mine unworthy eyes? These memories of paradise will remain etched into my beating heart unto the end of time and even beyond). There were museums, oh the museums! And way too much Picasso for one soul to absorb in one lowly afternoon. Tapas of all sorts were consumed, some with more gusto, some with less. We buried our faces in flower bushes and played with shadows in the sun, we walked like there was no tomorrow and when tomorrow came we walked it all over again. Through Park Guell in Barcelona, past Gaudi houses and through markets full of delicious things. We survived the multiple forms of night transportation, navigated the sketchy streets at night and found all our hostels without issue.

PHOTOS are up:
Valencia
Granada (and the Alhambra)
Sevilla
Cordoba
Madrid
Barcelona

a few random Granada images as a sampler.

Looks great! Do you use some program in particular to make those photo grids?

Thanks! Valencia was a literal blast, it felt like being in a warzone from the fireworks!

And Brett, I make those photo grids in Picasa2. Easiest thing in the world for someone like me who hates resizing and uploading things.

Wow! Nice, Hwei! Love your "eye." You have a great range on selecting which shots to take.

Hey, did you try importing your photos into the Tpunk gallery using Picasa2?!

Login > Your album > Add items > Picasa2 (select tab on top)

If you have a moment, can you try it ?
