Default my day out in canberra

so, feeling bored with my one day off for the week, then feeling annoyed at myself for wasting my day off, I randomly decided to get out and do some sightseeing. umm... in canberra. where I live. anyway i thought how whenever i drive past the lake I'm surprised at how nice everything looks from there so i went to do a walk around the lake. I put on some tourist clothes, took my camera along and i had a really great day. there was a person playing the carillion (huge bell tower thing) as i was walking up to it so i sat and listened for ages... then i ended up in the sculpture park of the art gallery, and thought why not look through the art gallery as well. I can highly recommend being a tourist in your own city. now i even look like a real tourist cause i'm sunburnt and have a blister on my foot. grr have to work tomorrow. anyway here's some wonderful holiday snaps from canberra.

the carillion

me reflected in some very shiny artwork

sculpture garden

a cool tree

how did it get there?

Canberra looks lovely this time of year!

Well, wherever he lives, it's not on any plane of reality. Probably shares a townhome on the Gold Coast with Bush and all the other Texas expat wankers

Actually he lives in a mansion on Sydney Harbor, if I had to choose between that and Canberra- I know what I'd choose...

Oh yes, I'd definitely choose Kirribilli, beautiful harbour views and all. Nice photos, aliz.
I spent a day in Canberra last year- went to all the touristy spots. I especially liked the Australian War Memorial.
Thought I'd share this pic:

Cool pics. Thanks for sharing your day with us, A !

Now, can you explain that metal sculpture suspended in mid-air with no cables attached to it? Or, shall I deduce it too photoshop ?

Nice one too, PB !

maybe you can see the secret in this picture:

its a cool sculpture though... it actually got struck by lightning once and got completely ruined, and the gallery paid for the artist to make a replica.

Oh oh oh, oh my god, Canberra! Woohoo! I have to -finally- delurk to share my excitement. After seeing these pics I am sitting here grinning to myself, bouncing up and down on my seat. Awwww... my sweet little hometown. I have been away from canberra for 9 months. And... awww... it's so cool and canberrish and awww. Everyone I has met, who have actually heard of canberra, say it's a shit place to visit...
But I like(d) living there. It looks beautiful in your pics. Meanwhile I am tired from riding around all day in rainy, windy grey crowded holland.
I love the NGA. Why don't they have free art galleries in most of europe???
Haha can you tell I get very excitable from talking about canberra? Or just australia in general. I love Australia now. Hey that's how johnnie can get us to learn some "aussie values".. just send us away from there. Heck, they are always sending asylum seekers away for free... why not us too....
