Let's say I'm travelling in Europe and want to go to Russia. I'll need a visa for Russia, right? While travelling, how exactly can I get a visa for a country that requires me to have one? Do I take care of that at the border?

For some countries it's not just a matter of "Hey, let's hop on over to Russia then, right?" I'm not sure about Russia in particular, but many countries require you to get a visa MONTHS in advance and you'll frequently have to mail your passport in to the embassy. NOT something you want to do while traveling!!
If you're American, check out THIS SITE!!! for foreign entry requirements for each country. Know before you go. :) |
Thanks for the link. Very helpful.

As an American you CANNOT get a Russian visa at the border or even a bordering country. I would get it before you go. You other options is to go to a Russian embassy in a country at least 2 away from Russia. You will probably have to wait forever and eat up travel time. I would get it before I go. I had to do the same recently for Brazil. I mailed my passport to Miami and got it back a week later all stamped up.
