Vietnam Visa Woes
HII! So I leave for Tokyo on Wednesday. I stay there for 6 days, then fly (or you'd think so, looking at my paper ticket) to Ho Chi Minh.
As it turns out, procrastination can have some negative effects.
I had planned to get my visa in one day, something someone had told me I could do at the Los Angeles Vietnam consulate. Turns out the consulate is in San Francisco.
Right now I'm communicating with this travel site based in Vietnam that claim to be able to get me a Visa upon arrival. I've been searching message boards to try to find if these are legitimate sites, but I'm not finding much.
Does anyone know if the websites http://www.salutevietnam.com, or guidevietnam.com are legitimate? I'm worried that I'm gonna end up stuck in Tokyo for a month - which I'd still not be able to complain about I don't think - so I was wondering, does anyone know if I can
A) Get a visa through these websites upon arrival in Vietnam or
B) Get a Vietnam visa, as an American, in Tokyo between the 5th and the 11th of December?

First, welcome!
I think you can get a visa outside of the country. I know, for example, if you are in Hong Kong you can get a visa for PRC regardless of nationality. Try calling your consulate because that would be the best option.
And no, a month in Tokyo would be just fine by me 
How long is your trip? If you haven't made a hostel reservation, I stayed at Sakura in Asakusa it was pretty good.

I have heard of the visa-on-arrival at airports. I had a rough time coming through by land from Cambodia, with a visa already, so it would scare me a bit to count on one waiting for me. But if you do it, I think the Vietnamese embassy has an online application for the on-arrival visas, it's probably be cheaper and faster than using an outside agency.

Thanks for the answers, I decided to just take the risk and go with the Visa on arrival. It seems legit, we'll see how it goes.
I got into a car accident and busted my lip open, causing me to be 3 stitches too late for my first flight into Tokyo. As such I decided to just book a hotel for the first two nights, but tomorrow I'm gonna get a hostel so I can meet some travelers. I'll check those two out!
