Damn.. Moscow is ranked #2? Is that empirical or based on cost-of-living-vs-typical-earnings? That's nutty!

Those figures are baffling CD. I would never have though that about Moscow. St Petersburg is apparently really beautiful but has a European flavour about it. I haven't heard a bad thing about the place.

I went 3 years ago and I don't recall it being that expensive. However I spent most of the time really drunk on vodka, as a litre bottle from the local off-license cost a whooping £1.60.

There's alot of new rich in Moscow maybe that's why and when I say rich, I mean stinking rich. It might be that they just cater to that market, if there aren't alot of middle class people there then there won't be middle class services.

I'd say the younger the population of the city is the cheeper the cost of living would be.

I was supposed to go to Moscow two years ago, and had made arrangement at a place called "Galina's Flat" where beds were around US$10. It's a private flat with 6 extra beds.

I had to cancel my trip. Anyone can PM me to get the address.
