A big shout goes out to all the travelers out there!
Its the end of September and that means winter time baby!!!
I know many of us are not traveling anymore this year, and if ya are, have a great time and let us know how it goes! I just wanted to let you all in on a tip. Being a Wells Fargo employee has open my wisdom box up to some new ideas and pointers that have helped a bit while traveling.
Tui's Tips:
Tip # 1- We all know that with an ATM/Check card you have limits on the daily spending. This can be a pain in the ass when you need to make a large purchase, such as an airline ticket or rail pass. Im not saying there is no way around it, because you can just call in and request a daily limit to be raised, however, if the phone banker has used his/hers daily limit of fee reversals (which for the phone bank is 100 dollars a day that the employee is allowed to give customers if they so choose to) you will be charged a fee for the raise of your limit, and the charges vary by state, and keep in mind that this limit is only changed for the single purchase that you specify.
Wells Fargo has an option that is not always made known. If you are in good standing and have had your account for 12 months or more, you are probably eligible for the "gold card" which has a daily limit that is almost unreachable in the budget travel realm. Its not a credit card, its an ATM/Check card just like the one you have only with extremely high limits. Another good thing about this card is the daily ATM limit is also changed, most people have 310 dollar daily limit (the 10 is for possible fees) and once you hit that limit you will not have access to your money, and this can come quick in certain countries.
Check into the gold card peeps, it could make things a little easier.
Tip # 2- This one is was used recently by a friend.
Scenario: Its the end of your trip and your direct deposit wont be credited this week because you were off for two weeks, your running out of money quick and the cards are maxed.
Call 1-800-TOWELLS and request a direct deposit advance, the agent will tell you that the funds will be removed in your next deposit. Here is the kicker... If the funds cannot be taken from your next deposit, and they wont be because your broke ass has been gettin hammered and exploring for two weeks, they will just let it slide for up to 45 days, you'll still have to pay it back, but it will give you some freedom while ya finish up your trip.
Direct Deposit Advances can be up to 500 dollars.
Well thats all for now folks, I'll have more next week
