Hey tpunkers, how's your day?
I'm obviously new, and probably over analizing my first big trip. I think I have finally come to a decision on how much money I need. Everythings in Can dollars.
After paying for my flight ($1,100), Insurance ($300), and getting my rail pass ($2,000 cause i'll be 26 ), I'm hoping that $4,000 will be enough for everything else(food, sleep, fun, and emergancy money) for 50 days.
Does anyone have some advice on this budget? Am i crazy, and need more money?
Thanks
P.S. my flight is refundable, and changable/flexible.

Hey,
I'm flying roundtrip from Toronto to London (Heathrow), leaving June 29th or 30th. Returning august something. It's a changable/flexible ticket.
I don't know when I'm coming home, so I need a changable ticket.

well...im sure everyone is going to say "but where in europe?" it really does depend on what countries, what cities, how you plan to sleep, eat, and whatnot...i did a lil conversion for you though...
4000can =3250 US
im going to be in the EU around 20-22 days, and am taking 1500US its about $75 a day whic will be a little tight.
3250/50 = $65 US a day. That will be a little tight, but doable, especially if you are not a big drinker. Do not forget about intra EU travel though. Do you have a railpass yet? buses? Make sure to budget for that stuff. I hope I helped a little.

shitty you need a flex tickets... you could just book a one way... then book you return a week or so before you want to come home. zoom air has dirt cheap flights from london in the fall... i got my one way for 400 in aug... and i was looking at a return in november for 200... that would give you some more cash...

yeah man, and you can find dirt cheap flights to london from Toronto. (I live around there as well so I'm always looking at the travel section of the newspaper). Even in high season, as long as u book 3 weeks in advance you can find tickets for like 200-300 CAD there ALL the time (as in I have never looked in the paper (Globe and Mail) and NOT seen an advertisement for that much....every week). Keep looking!!!!!!!!

You won't be finding those during high season...i tell ya that. It's a simple matter of supply and demand...prices only go down when supply > demand - ie. during low season.
Unless you can get some of those "courier" flights, like in Eurotrip.
Good luck Teri, that sounds like enough. Hell, i planned mine to be $3000 CDN for 30-34 days. Just eat lots of bread and cheese.
