It looks like they have some pretty good deals... and I might could save a couple hundred dollars if I won an auction.. as I priced tickets from airports around here to London all were coming out in the $700+ range. So anywho anyone tried it? and also what are some of the cheaper cities/towns you found to fly in and out of? :cowboy:
Ok went to economytravel.com looks like they have good prices! but the search did'nt seem to like me.. could anyone look up a Tallahassee, Fl to London ticket for me.. :worship:
First of all, what are the dates you're flying? Second of all, understand that I know next to nothing of Florida geography... but it's likely you'll get a better deal if you flew out of a major airport like Miami, if getting to Miami's airport is even remotely feasible to you (or another major city, even in another state, that's close to Tallahassee.)
Economy travel is a great site but can be a little touchy. It could be your spelling of Tallahassee or it just could be the dates you plugged in. I typed in September 1 to October 1 and got a rate of $680 including tax on United Airlines from Tallahassee to London (either Gatwick or Heathrow, I'm not sure.) Also check out www.expedia.com, www.lowestfare.com, www.priceline.com, www.cheaptickets.com, and god knows what others... www.orbitz.com, www.1800flyeurope.com... the list is endless. Also try the airlines' websites. I actually ended up getting the best deal directly through British Air for Seattle to Heathrow r/t *direct*. Sometimes the airlines can surprise you that way! |
Aye! I've never flown before! but my next question is do I want a one way or a round trip... I know I'll be coming back.. I just don't kmnow when.. if all goes good with money then it might go longer then expected.. same with if its more expenisve i may have to leave early..
are you a student? A lot of times you can get decent deals on one-way tickets at student travel agencies (don't ask me why, it doesn't really make sense.) economy travel has a one-way ticket from tallahassee to london for about $400 including tax departing september 1, which is actually a decent price. I have no idea what a one-way ticket would cost from europe back to tallahassee, it would depend on when you left. Historically, though, one-way tickets are frequently as expensive if not more so than a round-trip. I don't know why this is true but it is. (Some people buy a round-trip ticket and just never use the return portion. It's frowned on by airlines, but that's another consideration.)
ok! woot wow.. i checked out a a studend travel agency online.. studentuniverse.com and instead of leaving at the end of august i left at the end of september.. a one way ticket droped from 450.. to 288.00.. very nice.. I might wait a little longer in leaving..
Sorry for all the questions guys! :worship: but one more! can I get a round trip ticket that doens't have a certain date i have to be back.. just that I can redeem it before say 60 days or 180 days..
yeah, but open tickets tend to be pretty expensive. You would probably need to talk to a travel agent or directly with an airline for that. good luck! :wine:
Another student website is statravel.com. I think their rates are comparable to studentuniverse, but it is work checking out.
Is it normal for there not to be a tax on airline tickets?! Comparing prices again and went to economytravel.com and for a Sept 29-Dec 29 round trip from London is 517 with no taxes.. while most of the prices I've seen are $480-$490 plus $120 in taxes...
woot! i found the tickets I wanted! no more on this thread from me...
Care to share your technique? I'm sure we could all use some cheap-ticket enlightenment!
i just like how he/she keeps saying 'woot' - i especially liked the 'woot wow' earlier too. :worship:
well I'm he! rawwr! buy anywho economytravel.com I found some for a little over 600 bucks with tax.. not cheap.. from Sept 29-Dec 29 roundtrip London.... i could save about 50 bucks by going to atlanta but its 4 hours away so looks like I'll be leaving out of Tallahassee... $4000 3 months can I do it?
www.bestfares.com used to be really good - but they charge $75/yr membership and their deals have been steadily getting not-as-good anymore...
i used skyauction.com for my brazil tickets and it is turning out to be a pain in the arse... so careful with them I paid too much for my tickets but I just got all excited about bidding LOL stupid me... Neway I paid in total 748 for r/t phoenix to sao paulo at skyauction.com and that is with travel insurance... I am pretty sure that I could have gotten it cheaper directly from continental and wouldnt have the hassle of having bald tickets.... but whatever live and learn.. NO MORE SKYAUCTION for me
What are bald tickets Jake? Have I been getting the hairy ones all this time and never realized??
yup your tickets are hairy.
bald tickets are tickets that cannot be changed. It totally blows... and they have rules like no flying on weekends and crap like that  |
oh I see, thx for the hint, how did your ticket turn out to be anyway? Did it work for you?

I just wanted to add some stuff from my experience this summer looking for a flight from Vancouver to London.
Some countries require you to prove your intent to leave their country and often the best way of doing that is a return flight. Also, you can often change the departure date for a fee. The fee can vary a lot (I heard 50-200 CAD when booking my flight to London) but seemed to vary depending if you change it through the airline or a travel agent, or if you have an e-ticket. You might also be able to buy change insurance on the flight so you can get refunded if you change your date. |
