Default Airline increase

Didn't know if this was the right area to post, so move at will. Regardless.

I realize that domestic fares are going to increase as much as $150 as of June 23(next monday). So first off, anyone thinking about purchasing a ticket, you better do it by this weekend.

Secondly, does anyone know if this will effect the international routes. Especially the discounted rates via Student Universe?

I am really trying to hold out as long as possible to get the farthest date in advance for the same price, which for me is leaving Jan 24 from LAX-SYD, with a 'return' of May 13. If I could extend that into May, that would be fantastic.

I guess it might be in my best interest just to email their customer support, but just wondering if anyone had an opinion or knowledge.

I assume gas...I just got an email from American a few minutes ago, they're adding a $150 surcharge to any flights to Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, or Ecuador. I don't know what's so special about those 4 countries?

They're also raising some mileage amounts but I didn't see any difference, I think they must have targeted business/first class tickets.

Just talked to Student Universe... Student flights will increase with the latest price hike.
