i hear this building soceity doesnt charge to withdraw atm money, but what is the catch? is it because its a BS and doesnt have many cash points?

It's based in the uk and yes it does offer free withdrawls worldwide. Why? Because it can. Most banks don't have to charge as much as they do but NW take a hit (visa charge the banks something like 1%)and let you have them for free.
