Well, it's really not that high tech...I bought a plug adapter to charge my Canon digital camera battery & am wondering if I should also get a converter. Do I need to? It's only the battery that will be plugged in, not the camera. I just don't wanna blow anything up!

Thanks!

Nope, you will NOT need a voltage converter. Just about all small electronics have a built-in transformer. Look at the power brick, cable or label near the plug for your camera and it should say something like 110~220V... I've yet to have anything blow up on me

On the other hand, do NOT plug in a 110V hair dryer into a 220V plug. Bad things, man, bad things.

Those adapters are usually dirt cheap. I picked mine up from radio shack for $4

The converters on the other hand can run you anywhere from $20-$50 and can be the size of a large brick. Not to mention just as heavy.

I'd avoid bringing a converter at all costs

Damn, that's some good information. I was about to buy a voltage converter for charging my camera battery. Thanks.
