I got a Viking 256 meg CF and 1 pic got corrupted soon after my trip - and I just noticed another one did too (it's been about a year now, tho). Maybe it's due to the large size of the memory? I don't know what brand names would be good or bad - there's really not that many to choose from. Well, good thing I DL'd the pics ASAP so still got all the pics saved, at least.
Canon Powershot Digital Elphs have nearly no redeye or pic distortion. The photo quality is about as good as it gets.
Here's a really good review site with sample pics, etc that you can see the diferences with.
