Okay all you camera/technology geeks, I'm in dire need of a new digital camera. What I want is a SLR (I'm ONLY interested in an SLR) with removable lens that's relatively fast and takes GOOD picturse. It doesn't have to be a new model, because I know what those cost... It can be a slightly older model, or even used, but I'm looking for something less than $1000. So, give me your suggestions!!!!!!!

I liked the Canon D60. I know that is a bit older now, like two years or so, so finding one used might be totally possible for people selling it to get like a 20D that is more recent.

I'm not too SLR savvy, as I like something I can put in my pack. But I live and die by Cannon cameras.

We've (Beth and I) have been looking/researching digital SLRS and we are looking at Nikon and Minolta - both have great reviews and such.

I would probably stick with Canon or Nikon. Canon is my choice. They now have the digital Rebel xt. It's an 8 mega pixel slr. You can find em' just under $900 bucks and Canon lenses are always quality. Try this site for reviews.

Well, I already picked out my dream camera which is Nikon D70, but I don't want to drop that kind of money right now. This is more pleasure than necessity since we already have two digi cameras (but neither of them are up to my specifications ) For some reason, I'm leaning more towards a Nikon, but we'll see. Thanks for the advice so far!

I'm more of a Nikon man, not for any technical reasons, but rather because my family's used Nikon for years and we have several decades worth of Nikon/Nikkor lenses - that means no reinvestment in new lenses should I make the high-end SLR leap.
So that's something to take into consideration - if you already have an SLR and an investment in lenses, you may want to stick to that brand!
