Okay so i just got my iPod and I love it, i use it from morning to night...and i've been listening to some great podcasts which cover everything from sports to news to tech to sex and of course travel.

but i think we need to get a travelpunk podcast started...i'm sure lots of people have ipods...all you need is a microphone for the thing and you can make a recording. upload it somewhere and we can all download it to hear about your trip.

Is anyone else at all remotely interested in this? I think it could be tight. would love to hear others thoughts on the matter...

i'm not going anywhere anytime soon, but would love to hear some great stories from other people while i waste away in my cubicle.

A podcast is basically a radio show that you can download and listen to at anytime.

I've checked out the travel ones out there and largely been disappointed... So I thought a TPunk one would be a good idea. I have some audio production experience and could put one together, but there are a few issues: Hosting - podcasts eat up a lot of space on a server, so I dunno how TP's servers would handle that much being downloaded on a regular basis. Regularity - in order to have a successful podcast, you need to have fresh content regularly (i.e. weekly, bi-weekly, whatever), which means producing the program would be a regular job. Content - while everyone here can certainly contribute stories, not everyone can make a good recording of what they want to report... so people can record WAVs or whatever of themselves telling their story and send it over to whomever's producing, or the producer would have to read the stories from a script - not all that difficult, but again, time consuming.

If other people think this is a good idea, I'd be happy to do the production for it. The only issue is time constraints, and I don't know if I have enough free time to get the regularity going. HOwever, if there are enough people who can put stuff like this together on here, we can have rotating duties creating the show, with bits and pieces (intro music, ads, etc.) stored centrally for everyone to put together a show.

I'd be willing to contribute some stories and whatnot. If we get enough serious people out there I will do what I can. Someone with a pleasant voice will have to do the actual recording. That person will also need a pretty decent sound set up.

Keep the ideas rolling.
